I know, I know – I’m late with my update this week! It couldn’t be helped I tell you! We’re moving into Monte’s new house, so I’ve been plenty busy packing and moving and setting up new entertainment centers and whatnot. Don’t worry; I’ll have pictures next week once we get situated.

Been putting too much money on my credit card. Over the last week I’ve purchased a cheapass entertainment center from Wal-Mart ($40, I shit you not), and a futon ($250, including a mattress that’s thicker than the one on my bed) for the “media room”, which is essentially a den, but that’s sort of my little haven, so it was my responsibility to decorate it. Besides, whenever I move out of this house, I’ll probably just leave the bed there and take the futon along until I get to the new place. The futon will be a hell of a lot easier to move than a big damn bed/mattress combo, so it’s more an investment than anything else. Sure, that sounds good; I’ve convinced myself it was worth it. The problem is, I’m not done yet. I still need to buy little things – bath mat, medicine cabinet, shower curtain rings, and random crap like that. However, we get paid tomorrow, so I’ll use the cash as much as I can instead of putting it on the ol’ Visa. God…I’m never going to get out of debt.

Next week we start cleaning the old apartment. Aside from some nail holes, screw holes, a really weird indentation left by my chair and some scrapes left by Monte’s old chair, it shouldn’t be too terrible to get ready for inspection. But it’s never fun to have to clean.

Last weekend was pretty fun. Friday we went to a Cardinal’s game with some friends. The tickets we had were in two separate sections, so Monte and I sat with two friends we met last year at about the same time named Jamie and Erin. They’re a lot of fun, so we spent more time talking than actually watching the game. After that we just sorta hung out by Stan Musial for awhile (if you’ve been to Busch you know what I mean) and then Monte and I met up with Ben and JK for Rushmore at the Tivoli Theater down in UCity. That movie means more to me now than it ever has. Weird how not seeing a movie in a while can help you re-evaluate it. As I say in my movie journal for this week, this film pretty much sums up my life for the last 10 years. Scary. Anyway, it was great to see it on the big screen again.

Saturday I moved stuff all day. Whoo-hoo! But then Saturday night, Ben, JK and I went to see Sum of All Fears. Not a great film – not as good as Hunt for Red October – but I enjoyed it. Again, see the movie journal for more. After that, JK and I met Monte and the girls down at The Landing while Ben went to a car show. We went to the coolest place down on The Landing, The Big Bang. Good time was had by all, however, we left around 11:00 and almost everyone went their separate ways. JK and I decided to stick around for a little bit, and got something to eat at Show Me’s, which is like a Hooter’s knock-off, but with cheaper food. Funniest thing – one of the waitresses was around three or four months pregnant. Ya just don’t think of your Hooter’s girl as expecting, ya know?

After Show Me’s we hit the casino. Pretty crappy little casino, frankly. I played Blackjack for the first time and had a ball. I can definitely see why people get addicted to that. We were playing on a $5 table, so there wasn’t a ton of pressure, and I learned a lot. Had a pretty good run going for a while too. Played for something like an hour on only $20. Can’t complain with that.

Sunday – I moved. Didn’t do a damn nother thing. Probably why I’m so worn out this week.

Obviously this weekend doesn’t look like it’s going to be much fun either. JK and Ben are helping us move the couch, washer/dryer and anything else we can squeeze into the truck tomorrow night. I’m sure some grilled animal flesh will be consumed at some point, probably heavily marinated in beer. Saturday, theoretically, we should be moving the last remnants of us from our old apartment. I’m hoping I won’t be too drop-dead tired that I can still go see Brazil at the midnight screening, but we’ll see. Sunday looks to be getting our lives back in order in the new place. All to get prepared for cleaning of the old place next week. Whoopie frickin doo.

So, with that, I leave you. As I said, pics of the new place will be up next week for your enjoyment. I can only hope that we’re even partially put together by then. We’ll see.
