Ahhh, another Wednesday…and so much to talk about!

First off, the sniper – that’s some scary shit, huh? While I don’t think it’s going to be the case now that they’ve found his “death card”, at first I thought to myself, “If I were a terrorist, what better way to instill terror in the American people.” I just hope Al Queda cells aren’t paying too much attention and start getting any funny ideas; frankly, I’m surprised no one’s thought of this before. Let’s just pray they catch the bastard soon and no one feels the need to copy his actions. I’d hate to have to start wearing Kevlar to Schnuck’s.

Next up – Iraq…again. I was listening to NPR today (I know…I’m old) and a guest on one of the shows made a great point: if we attack Iraq right now, what better tool is the Taliban going to have to recruit new members? If Iraq were dumb enough to strike us first, we’d have more young men joining the U.S. Army than ever before; and our young men would be sacrificing so much to defend this country. What makes you think that a young Iraqi who has NOTHING to lose wouldn’t join up with the Taliban? I tell ya, things are getting pretty scary and they could get even worse if George has his way.

My AutoCAD class ended tonight. Walked in, waited half an hour for the teacher to hand out the final test drawing and then spent fifteen minutes actually creating the drawing; made it home in time for West Wing. I have a feeling I did well in that class.

Been writing quite a bit this week. Still working on one story in particular while trying to get a few shorter ones done. Thus far I keep finding more to write about in the shorter ones. “What if I took this idea further?” I really need to stop doing that or I’m going to be working on eight different novels at once.

Actually, I think I might be adding another big, big project to the pile. I’ve had this story idea in my head for about three years now and I really think it’s time I do something with it. It has so many elements and layers and a great mystery to boot, plus it’s almost all completely outlined. Really, it’s just a matter of sitting down and writing it. I plan to revisit the outline tomorrow night and probably for the rest of the weekend to really get it set in stone. My one big project might be put on hold so I can get this old business out of the way. I’ll just have to see how things turn out this weekend. I’ll keep you posted.

Went home last weekend to see my aunt, uncle and grandma whom I haven’t seen in about three years. Had a good chance to catch up and do some reminiscing as well. It was a very enjoyable time.

No word yet from the job applications. Well, I take that back – I did have word from Hollywood Video, but it was just before I left for home for the weekend and I, unwisely, decided to call them back Monday. As of today I haven’t heard from them again. Either they didn’t get the message or they’ve found someone else. I’m still holding out hope for Borders, then.

Had some good news last night at our Tuesday film discussion group that’s sponsored by a local theater. The manager, whom I’ve become sort of friends with, is going to have me start moderating some of the weekly discussion groups that will begin in December. Basically, it’s a great opportunity for me to get my face, logo, and the STL Film Club name in front of dedicated movie lovers. Here’s hoping it’s a fruitful relationship.

I guess that’s about it for now. Not a whole lot else going on, really. Just trying to make it through another week, ya know? So, I guess I’ll leave you for now. Have a safe, fun weekend and I’ll see ya next Wednesday!
