Gah!
Welcome to the Uncanny Valley!
This thing is going to haunt me in my sleep.

Posted under ALL, WebsitesIt is with a sad heart that I must say goodbye to Arthur C. Clarke, famed science fiction author whose best-known work was 2001: A Space Odyssey. 2001 is easily one of the best films of all-time and not all of the credit can go to Stanley Kubrick. The screenplay by Clarke is the perfect example of what film can be at it’s best – exciting, interesting, astounding, and thought-provoking. It really is absolutely incredible.
So goodbye, Mr. Clarke. May you find intelligent life wherever you are.
Man, Gygax and now Clarke…it’s already been a tough year to be a geek.
Posted under ALL, WebsitesThis is everything that’s wonderful and horrible about the internet, all rolled up into one nice, fuzzy, well-dressed package.
I give you, Sugar Bush Squirrel – The World’s Most Photographed Squirrel.
Ya know, I’m not easily offended, but this…

this might bother some folks out there.
And this one, not even Family Guy would touch…

I’m going to let my geek show for a little bit as I bid a fond farewell to Gary Gygax, creator of the nerd touchstone, Dungeons & Dragons.
I played a little D&D, starting in junior high, into high school, and even a little in my early-20′s for a brief amount of time (accompanied by beer, which makes it only a little less geeky). I was never a fanatic or batshit crazy enough to become a LARPer, but I definitely had some fun playing with friends. To this day I still have fond memories of my best character – Finora the Wolf Slayer and her mighty weapon, The Axe of the Bear (with the non-rulebook stats of +9 hit, +15 damage).
The game Gygax invented has touched virtually every form of entertainment – comic books, movies, video games, books, music, television, the internet, literally anything you can think of. So even you folks who think you’re too cool to actually play a role-playing game have inevitably liked something that probably wouldn’t exist were it not for D&D. Therefore, from the geeks of the world, I say, “Bite me.”
But to you, Gary, I say farewell. Wherever you are, may all your rolls be natural 20′s.
