Tonight I didn’t get to write as much as I would have liked due to the pile of dishes in our double sink. I washed everything while watching the final episode of The Innocent Man on Netflix (3/5 bananas), and then catching up on some of my way-too-long Watch Later list on YouTube.
But I washed everything with a purpose – so that tomorrow I’ll be free to work on other things, including some writing.
I did write tonight, though (other than this post, though I’d say it still counts). I worked on my read-along record book production script – polishing it up so that I can hopefully record the narration and some sound effects this weekend. I’m getting pretty excited about this one. I’ve sound designed the first page, which basically sets the mood for the rest of the book, and so far I’m really happy with it. I’m a little nervous going into the dialog, because the actors weren’t in the same recording space, so here’s hoping the sound discrepancies can be masked with a little ambient background noise and some sweeping musical cues. I’ll find out soon enough.
While it’s not writing, I also checked out a kid’s book from the library tonight that seems to operate in a similar vein as the kid’s novella I’ve been writing for the last few years (and that I’d like to finish this year). I’ve always wondered if what I was writing was too mature for the age group I’m shooting for (10-12) or if it was in the ballpark, so I’m hoping this will give me a good idea of the complexity of language I can use. I’m excited to read it.
And with that, it’s now after midnight and I have garbage to take to the curb. So, until tomorrow…
